Xavi Santolaya

Based in Barcelona, Spain


Xavi graduated from Ramon Llull University with degrees in Journalism and Film, showcasing a keen eye for detail, a remarkable aptitude for technical learning, and excellent teamwork skills. After assisting other colorists for some time, he quickly gained recognition and started working with top production companies and directors in Spain, earning a reputation as one of the country's most esteemed colorists.


Seeking new horizons, Xavi decided to take a step forward and moved to Hamburg to join NHB, marking the beginning of his international career. Since then, he has collaborated with various post-production houses across Europe and the Middle East, including Sehsucht in Germany, Storm in the Netherlands, RUR in the Czech Republic, and Serena Dubai in the UAE, among others. Despite his international ventures, Xavi has maintained strong ties with leading post-production houses in Spain, such as El Ranchito, Glassworks, Deluxe Barcelona, and Miopia.


His talent as a colorist has earned him the trust of renowned directors, with notable collaborations including Ernest Desumbila, Nacho Gayán, Andreas Nilsson, Ole Peters, CANADA, Pep Bosch, Rodrigo Valdés, Victor Carrey, Los Pérez, and J. A. Bayona, among others.


Throughout his career, Xavi has worked with major global clients like Nike, Mercedes, Audi, Vodafone, BMW, T-Mobile, Ford, Volkswagen, IWC, SEAT, Gatorade, Toyota, Honda, Adidas, Lexus, and more. Despite his involvement with large-scale commercial projects, Xavi also takes great joy in participating in exciting and less commercial endeavours, such as music videos and other content. With 15 years of experience in grading, Xavi understands the value of every project, recognising that even the smallest ventures can contribute to further elevating his skills and accomplishments in the world of color grading.
