Willy Vanderperre

Based in Belgium

Belgian-born and raised, Willy Vanderperre is a highly influential photographer and filmmaker within the fashion industry. He resides in Antwerp, where he found his passion for photography while studying fashion at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. Recognizing that photography provided a more direct means of expressing his creative impulses in fashion, Vanderperre's background in design has endowed him with an intuitive understanding of clothing and an extensive knowledge of the design process.

Currently, Vanderperre is renowned for producing influential and highly regarded fashion editorial shoots and advertising campaigns each season. Notable highlights of his campaigns include collaborations with Raf Simons, Christian Dior, Dior Homme, Jil Sander, and Prada. Furthermore, he is a sought-after editorial contributor for esteemed magazines such as Love, W Magazine, Another, Another Man, Vogue Hommes International, and American Vogue.

In recent years, Vanderperre has expanded his projects beyond the realm of fashion. He has delved into contemporary dance-theatre, exploring the instantaneous nature of Instagram, and venturing into extended narrative filmmaking. Notably, his book "The Power of Theatrical Madness II" (2014) documents his immersive collaboration with Jan Fabre's company during the revival of the dance-theatre production in 2012. Additionally, his publication "635" (late 2015) compiles his Instagram posts up until the time of printing. In January 2016, Vanderperre made his directorial debut with the film "Naked Heartland," premiered at London's ICA.
