Tarun Khiwal is an Indian fashion and commercial photographer with over 30 years of experience in the industry. Tarun Khiwal’s journey in photography began at the age of 15 when his father gifted him a Pentax K1000 camera, sparking his early passion for the art form. Initially aspiring to be a painter, Tarun shifted to mechanical engineering at the Institute of Tool Room Training, Lucknow. He transitioned into photography after discovering his passion through early mentorships with photographers such as Hardev Singh, Prabuddha Dasgupta, and Atul Kasbekar.
His portfolio includes collaborations with Indian fashion designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Manish Malhotra, Satya Paul, and Ritu Kumar, along with brands like Coca-Cola, Sprite, Raymonds, Toyota, Titan, Adidas, and Air India.
Tarun has also worked with Bollywood celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Ayushmann Khurrana, and created images of international artists, athletes, and leaders across various fields.
Tarun’s editorial work has been featured in magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Travel + Leisure, Harper’s Bazaar, Tank, Elle, Marie Claire, and Condé Nast Traveller. He was listed among the top 10 fashion photographers in the world by Model Management and became the first Indian recipient of the prestigious Hasselblad Masters Award in 2005. His other accolades include the Lycra MTV Style Award for Fashion Photographer of the Year and the Kingfisher Fashion Photographer of the Year Award.
His approach balances technical precision with creative storytelling, making him a standout figure in the fashion and commercial photography landscape.
