Rob Witt is a Director of Photography known for his striking style, and feel for alluring imagery. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, he began his career shooting videos for local punk bands and hip-hop artists. In 2009 he embarked on a world tour with the band 30 Seconds to Mars, which eventually led Rob to garner his first VMA nomination for Cinematography on “Hurricane” by artist/director, Jared Leto.
Throughout the 2010’s Rob would become one of the most prolific cinematographers working in music, shooting 100’s of videos, for everyone from Ariana Grande to Kanye West. His work with Kendrick Lamar on 2015’s “Alright”, directed by Colin Tilley, would become highly praised, and brought home some of the most prestigious awards, including Best Cinematography in a Music Video at Camerimage in Poland.
Rob continues to innovate in music videos today, and was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 2021 VMA’s for his work on “Therefore I Am” with artist/director Billie Eilish. His short films have played at numerous festivals around the world, and his debut feature “Licks” directed by Jonathan Singer-Vine, premiered in competition at SXSW.
Most recently, Rob worked as B-Camera Operator and 2nd Unit Cinematographer on the 2nd season of the HBO series “Euphoria”.
His rich clientele includes brands like Apple, Ballantine's, Budweiser, Coca-Cola, Decathlon, Diesel, Dolby, Instagram, Google, Rolls Royce, Youtube and Reebok among many others. Witt has also won several UKMVAs and VMAs for his exceptional cinematography.
