Neil Smith

Based in London


Neil, hailing from a performance background, began his career in the arts and obtained a Drama degree from the University of Hull. Initially pursuing acting, he eventually transitioned to a career behind the camera after relocating to London. Starting as a runner, Neil worked his way up to become an editor at an editorial company.


In 2006, Neil, along with partners Rich Orrick, Bill Smedley, and Executive Producer Jane Dilworth, established Work Editorial in London. The company swiftly earned a reputation as the city's premier boutique editing company. In 2013, Work Editorial expanded its operations by opening its first U.S. office in New York, led by Executive Producer Erica Thompson.


In 2015, Neil relocated to the West Coast to set up Work Editorial's Los Angeles office alongside the original partners and new partner Stewart Reeves, with Executive Producer Marlo Baird. He currently resides in Los Angeles with his family.


Neil has also made a name for himself in the film industry. In 2012, he co-edited "Snow White and the Huntsman" with editor Conrad Buff for Universal Pictures. In 2015, he worked on "Ghost In The Shell" for Dreamworks. Recently, he completed editing the pilot episode of the Apple+ adaptation of the renowned Isaac Asimov Sci-Fi saga "Foundation," collaborating once again with long-time partner, director Rupert Sanders.


Throughout his career, Neil has earned numerous awards, including a Silver Lion at the Cannes Festival in 2019. He remains dedicated to achieving creative excellence across various mediums, whether in television, feature films, or commercials.


His clientele includes brands like Apple (The Underdogs and Color Flood), Facebook (Once Upon a Time Everywhere), IKEA (Beds), Nike (Field Generals) and Guinness (Basketball) among several others.
