Founded by directors Gauri Shinde and R. Balki in 2011, Hope Productions is known for crafting films and commercials that resonate deeply, balancing gravitas and heartfelt storytelling.
The company made its debut with the feature film English Vinglish, starring the late Sridevi, which received critical and audience acclaim.
R. Balki, a former Group Chairman of Lowe Lintas (India), has had a distinguished career in advertising, having started at Mudra Communications in 1989 and becoming Creative Director at Lowe Lintas in 1994. Gauri Shinde began her career as a copywriter before transitioning into filmmaking, working in the films division at Lowe Lintas. Together, they have utilised their advertising experience to crafting imacpful work which showcases societal norms and bring about positive change in both films and commercials.
In addition to feature films, the company has crafted TVCs and commercials, blending creativity and emotional depth. Some of their notable advertising work includes Dark Fantasy's "Din Khatam Fantasy Shuru" featuring Alia Bhatt, Vim Bar - Apne Bartan Apne Aap and more.
Hope Productions has gone on to produce several other films, including Padman, Ghoomar, and Dear Zindagi, winning numerous accolades, including the National Award for Best Film on Social Issues for Padman, as well as Best Hindi Feature Film and Best Actor awards for Paa.
