Since becoming a member of Company 3 in 2013, Bryan Smaller has been driven by a passion to explore the intersection between VFX and colour in his work across commercials, music videos, television, and feature films.
Notably, Smaller lent his exceptional colour grading skills to the Oscar-nominated film Greyhound, earning him a nomination for Outstanding Colour Grading at the HPA Awards. His collaborations with renowned artists such as Kanye West, The Weeknd, and Ariana Grande earned him recognition at the MTV VMAs, while his work on the Super Bowl LI Opening garnered him three Emmy Awards. In 2021, Smaller's remarkable contributions to Art & Style earned him a spot on the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 list.
Throughout his career, Smaller has skilfully graded over 45 feature films, including Netflix's Chupa directed by Jonas Cuarón and Fool's Paradise directed by Charlie Day. He has also worked on various television shows, including Inside Bill's Brain for Netflix and The Curse of Von Dutch for Hulu.
Originally from Chicago, Smaller's journey in media began at an early age when he directed his first broadcast commercial at just 14. By 18, he had already crafted over 100 productions for brands like Reader's Digest and Walgreens. After launching his colourist career in New York and Chicago, he eventually settled in Los Angeles in 2012. When he's not immersed in the world of colour grading, Bryan enjoys playing the guitar, turning up the amp to 11 to unleash his musical talents.
