Ajay Gahlaut

Ajay Gahlaut is currently an Independent Creative. He is the former Chief Creative Officer at Dentsu Creative Services, as well as former Chief Creative Officer and Managing Director at Publicis Worldwide India.


Gahlaut began his advertising career is 1994 as a Junior Copywriter at Rediffusion DY&R. He later moved to Saatchi & Saatchi as a Copywriter and has since worked with several advertising agencies including Ogilvy & Mather, JWT (now Wunderman Thompson), McCann, and Rediffusion Y&R. With over three decades in the industry, Gahlaut understands the pulse of the audience and creates ideas that strike a deeper chord with them.


He is behind popular brand taglines like ‘Do Boond Zindagi Ki’, that anchored the Pulse Polio Immunisation campaign (featuring Amitabh Bachchan), and ‘Make It Large’ for the whiskey brand Royal Stag that transformed its fortunes and made it the highest selling whiskey in its price range. Gahlaut has also written ads for Imperial Blue's 'Men Will Be Men' campaign.


While leading Ogilvy Gurgaon in 2013, the agency won eight Cannes Lions, while he was entitled a Silver winner at the Campaign Asia Asian Creative Person of the Year awards. In 2022, once again, while under his lead, Dentsu Creative won the Agency of the Year title at the Cannes–their achievements included a Titanium Lion, three Grand Prix awards, one Gold, and several Silver and Bronze wins, marking the first time an Indian agency claimed the Agency of the Year accolade at Cannes​.
